Scholarships have been established at Nathan Littauer to enhance educational, recruitment, and retention opportunities for current and prospective employees of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. The spirit of the fund is to support the continuing education of employees, attract the highest quality staff available, and retain employees who are dedicated to serving our patients and actualizing our vision and mission at NLH.

Annually, we announce these opportunities via internal communications and our website, with informational materials distributed to educational partners by 1) March 15th and/or 2) October 15th. Internal applications are accepted on a rolling basis, while partner site applications are due by 1) April 15th and/or 2) Nov 15th, respectively. Nathan Littauer recipients can advance their careers, while contributing to NLH’s mission of excellence in healthcare!

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Staff members may apply for funds on a rolling basis.
2. Applications are available online in the human resources office.
3. Continuing education applications must be targeted and support the organization’s strategic plan.

 

Our Process:

Internal Scholarships

  • Staff will pick up applications in Human Resources (HR) or submit them to HR through the online application
    • HR will verify applicant is an employee in good standing.
  • Completed applications will be forwarded to the respective Department Manager for review and signature
    • Manager(s) will review application(s), sign the application(s), and return them to HR.
  • Applications are reviewed by HR and determined when the package is complete. The package includes:
      • Completed application signed by department manager
      • Verification of enrollment
      •  Invoice and payment submission information
  • The approved package is forwarded to Business Development
    • The application package is reviewed.
    • A contract with the student is prepared.
  • The contract is submitted to manager for execution
    • The contract is reviewed with applicant
    • Signature is notarized
    • Copies are issued to applicant, HR, and Business Development
      • HR submits invoice and payment information to A/P to issue check(s).
      • Future approved invoices are submitted to HR and forwarded to A/P.

External Scholarships

  • Announcement to Educational Partners
    • Materials will be distributed to partners by 1) March 15th and/or 2) October 15th
  • Submission Deadline
    • ALL applications are sbumitted to HR by 1) April 15 and/or 2) Nov 15th
    • Reviewed packages will be forwarded to the appropriate Vice President (VP).
    • Applications will be assessed by VP or Manager(s) based on eligibility criteria, academic success, priority positions, and the strength of supporting documents.
    • VP or Manager(s) may conduct interviews or request additional information if necessary.
    • Selected canddiates will be notified in writing or email by 1) June 1st and/or 2) Jan 1st
  • Acceptance and Agreement
    • Recipients must formally accept the scholarship or offer and sign an agreement detailing the terms and conditions, including the post-education employment commitment.
      • VP / Manager(s) review agreement with the student.
      • Signature is notarized.
  • Disbursement of Funds
    • VP / Manager(s) receive verification of enrollment and invoice(s) from the student.
    • Copies are disbursed to HR and Business Development
    • HR submits invoice and payment information to A/P for payment.
