The purpose of the Director of Recreation Therapy is to provide a strong, well-organized recreation program to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the residents seven (7) days a week taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs. To develop programming to stimulate individual interests in meaningful activities. To provide a therapeutic environment for all residents.
- Possess a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.
- Prefer Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.
- Certification as a Recreation Therapist. Clearance through the New York State Control Register or Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
- Prefer three (3) years experience as a Recreational Therapist.
- Possess a working knowledge of Federal and State Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation; New York State Codes, Rules and Regulations.
Status: 8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours) Hours will fluctuate depending on departmental needs.
