Description:  The Ward Clerk performs defined clerical and receptionist functions on the nursing unit to provide an organized and efficient atmosphere in which to deliver patient care.

Requires: 

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Employee is trained and prepared to provide non-direct care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.
  • Preferred – Completed a medical terminology course.  Computer knowledge of Meditech system.  Previous experience as a Ward Clerk or Medical Office Coordinator or equivalent.
  • Possess previous experience in a health care setting.

  Status:   MED/SURG 3rd Floor 2:45pm – 11:15pm (16 hours)

$15.86 – $17.99 per hour.  Experience differential after one year of service. 

Medical Receptionist

$1,500.00 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR FULL-TIME MEDICAL RECEPTIONISTS

Description:  The purpose of this job is to provide clerical support for Primary/Specialty Care Services.  Acts as front line contact with patients, both by telephone and in person to provide necessary assistance and handle all communication.  Supports the medical staff and Vice President in the operations of the Primary/Specialty Care Center.  Takes into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Requires: 

  • Possess high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess previous customer service experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of medical terminology, physician office practices and Medical Records.
  • Possess one (1) year experience with computer software: MEDENT, MEDITECH, and various Microsoft Office applications.

Status:  7:00am – 7:00pm (40 hours)

From:  $16.41 to $19.41 per hour.

Primary Care Center File/Scanning Clerk

Description:  The purpose of this job is to maintain the patient electronic health record and other files as needed at the Primary Care Centers.  Assists receptionist staff, office coordinators and practice administration with general office duties as assigned. 

Requires:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent education. 
  • Possess six (6) months experience in general clerical work in a healthcare setting. 
  • Prefer one (1) year experience in a Physician office setting. 
  • Possess a working knowledge alphabetizing, medical terminology, medical chart structure and computers. 

Status:  8:30am – 5:00pm (40 hours) 

$15.78 to $18.78 per hour.  

Patient Accounts Counselor

JOB PURPOSE: Verification that all patients have proper insurance coverage necessary to cover the costs of receiving hospital care or to arrange some other mechanism for payment to ensure that the Hospital will receive payment.  Gathers all information needed in order to complete the billing process. Assist walk in patients with questions on their accounts. Updates Meditech with insurance information supplied by patient services.

EDUCATION:  Possess a High School diploma or equivalent. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:   None

EXPERIENCE:  No prior experience is required; however, one (1) year of prior experience in hospital patient billing is desirable.  If no prior experience, six months of on-the-job training will be provided.

SHIFT: 40 Hours

Patient Care Technician – Emergency Care Center

***There is a $5,000 sign on bonus for full-time Patient Care Technician and a $2,500 sign-on bonus for part-time Patient Care Technicians***

The Patient Care Technician provides basic nursing care to patients, transports patients within the hospital, and monitors a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Technician provides clerical support, including order entry, as the patient care and patient flow requires.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure and standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

SHIFT: 6:45AM – 7:15PM
STATUS: 36 hours

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific groups, which include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/ REGISTRATION: None at start. Basic Life Support certification within six (6) months of hire, three (3) months for ECC and Float Pool positions.

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience as an ER or Special Care Nurse Assistant, Maternity Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.

PREFERRED: Emergency Department experience, Critical Care experience, EMT experience, medical office assistant training.

$17.02 per hour.  Experience differential after one (1) year of service.
