The Staff Nurse is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The Staff Nurse will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital policies, work rules, nursing department/unit standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals and the mission of the hospital and nursing department. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

SHIFT: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
STATUS: 36 HOURS 

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.

PREFERRED:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/ REGISTRATION:
Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification to be obtained within six (6) months of hire or transfer.

EXPERIENCE:
None

PREFERRED:
Unit Specific Certifications. One (1) or more years’ experience in acute care nursing. American Heart Association Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Registered Nurse (Maternity)

Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, Work Rules, Human Resources Protocol & Procedures, nursing department/unit structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.

Experience: Must possess six (6) months to one (1) year of post-graduation nursing and Labor & Delivery experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
  • Completion of any specialty education programs that would enrich knowledge base of specialty. 
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, NCC Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), CLC certification, completion of Childbirth Educator Program. 
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of hire.
