The Director of Emergency Department & Medical Surgical Nursing is a Registered Nurse who provides unit leadership within the Emergency Department & Medical Surgical Unit (3 West) and works in partnership with the other nursing leaders, departments, the healthcare team, hospital/system leaders to develop a quality practice setting that supports professional nursing and quality patient care.

The Director of Emergency Department & Medical Surgical Nursing is accountable for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient patient care. Responsibilities include coordination of patient care; supervision of a professional team that includes nursing and other licensed and unlicensed staff as appropriate; administrative and budget management; troubleshooting of problem areas; organizational change management; ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards; quality assurance/quality improvement; safety and risk management requirements as well as actualization of hospital and unit policies, goals and objectives. Further, improving unit operations, enhancing communication and feedback, customizing education and staff roles, and accepting organizational accountability for services provided to recipients are critical outcomes expected of this role. Collaborative leadership, strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this role.  The ideal candidate would possess strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a dedication to delivering high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting.

EDUCATION:  Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an associate’s degree.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served {i.e.: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric} served on their assigned unit.

PREFERRED:  Possess a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree or master’s degree. Certification in area of practice. (Consistent with the type of patient population to be managed). Two (2) years management experience.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICTION/REGISTRATION:  Possess current New York State License for Registered Processional Nurse.  American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hires. 

EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) years of medical/surgical experience or equivalent.

TITLE: Specialty Surgery Site Manager                           DEPARTMENT: Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and other surgery specialties

The Specialty Surgery Site Manager is the designated leader for our Steele Avenue Primary/Specialty Care Center Site, its patient population and assigned staff.  The Specialty Surgery Site Manager has responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, site operations, staff function and physical space integrity.

EDUCATION:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Possess a current New York State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. 

PREFERRED:  Possess a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICTION/REGISTRATION:  American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).

EXPERIENCE:  Possess prior nursing managerial experience.

PREFERRED:  Possess one (1) year of nurse management experience in a physician office setting. Prior experience in a surgical services setting is preferred.

Primary/Specialty Care Manager

TITLE: Primary / Specialty Care Manager  

SHIFT:  8:00AM – 4:30PM                     STATUS: 40 HOURS

The purpose of this job is to identify and provide care management services for the high-risk patients in the Primary/Specialty Care population and work with behavioral health agencies outside the Nathan Littauer Hospital Primary/Specialty Care system to coordinate PCP services for the Agency’s high-risk population.

EDUCATION:  Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED: Associate’s degree with a concentration on care management or related discipline.

EXPERIENCE:  Care Management experience. 

PREFERRED: Process Improvement, Quality Improvement, and Patient Centered Medical Home recognition is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:  Possess a working knowledge of outpatient, third party reimbursement, operations of a primary/specialty care private practice, managed care, computer operations.

Director of Recreation Therapy

Nathan Littauer Nursing Home

The purpose of the Director of Recreation Therapy is to provide a strong, well-organized recreation program to meet the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the residents seven (7) days a week taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs. To develop programming to stimulate individual interests in meaningful activities.  To provide a therapeutic environment for all residents. 

  • Possess a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.
  • Prefer Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in therapeutic recreation or a major in recreation with an option in therapeutic recreation.
  • Certification as a Recreation Therapist.  Clearance through the New York State Control Register or Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
  • Prefer three (3) years experience as a Recreational Therapist.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Federal and State Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation; New York State Codes, Rules and Regulations.

JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to have operational and strategic responsibility for the primary care and specialty provider practices at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, including the planning, program development, recruitment, retention and leadership activities required to make the service a success clinically, financially and operationally.

EDUCATION:  Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Administration or related field. 

PREFERRED: Master’s Degree

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:  None

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum five (5) years of experience in healthcare administration.  Practice Management leadership experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE: Possess a working knowledge of operations of a primary care service; cost accounting; quality assurance and program development; health care industry; third party reimbursement and managed care.  Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.  Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.  Knowledge of practice revenue cycle.  Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.  Proficiency in using healthcare information systems and technology.
