Registered Nurse (Maternity)

Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The RN will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordinator with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs. Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, Work Rules, Human Resources Protocol & Procedures, nursing department/unit structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department. Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served on their assigned unit.

Experience: Must possess six (6) months to one (1) year of post-graduation nursing and Labor & Delivery experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
  • Completion of any specialty education programs that would enrich knowledge base of specialty. 
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, NCC Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), CLC certification, completion of Childbirth Educator Program. 
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of hire.

Nursing Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of the Nursing Supervisor job is to coordinate the activities of the patient care units in a centralized nursing environment.  The Nursing Supervisor assists the Nurse Managers in departmental staffing on a daily basis, maintains approved standards of patient care within the Division of Nursing taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs, investigates and resolves complaints and maintains a safe environment for staff and patients.  The Nursing Supervisor has responsibility for the operation of the entire hospital in the absence of Department Heads and Administration with the support of the designated “Administrator-on-call”.

Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.

EDUCATION:  Graduate from an accredited nursing program with associate’s degree or diploma required.  Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served.

PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science Nursing degree.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within the first 6 months of hire or transfer.   

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of medical/surgical experience or equivalent. 

PREFERRED: Two (2) years nursing management experience.

KNOWLEDGE: Possess a working knowledge of NYS Department of Health Code, Rules and Regulations, accreditation requirements, administrative policies, nursing structure standards, procedures and protocols, union contracts, child abuse reporting requirements, OSHA, infection control, safety, body mechanics, scope of practice, documentation computers and communication systems.  Possess knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.  Possess knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

SHIFT:  5:45PM – 6:15AM | STATUS:  36 hours (Hours will fluctuate depending on departmental needs)

RATE OF PAY: $63,498 – $94,217 / YEAR

DEPARTMENT: Nathan Littauer Nursing Home / Extended Care Facility

JOB PURPOSE:  The Nursing Home LPN is a care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her residents within the limits of his/her education and the Nurse Practice Act, taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs.  The limits of the LPN’s responsibility are defined by Nursing Home policy in keeping with the NYS code, rules, and regulations and the NYS education department.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with the state regulations for LPN, established Hospital and Nursing Home standards, nursing department/unit structure, process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Nursing Home and nursing department taking into account the individual resident’s special physical or age-related needs.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 

  • HSD/GED; graduation from an accredited LPN program or completion of required components to satisfy LPN licensing examination. 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: 

  • Possess current NYS registration as LPN. 

EXPERIENCE:  None.

PREFERRED:  One (1) or more years’ experience in skilled nursing or previous experience in a health care setting.

RATE OF PAY: $23.69 – $28.23 /HOUR     SHIFT: 10:45 PM – 7:15 AM  (40 HOURS)
