JOB PURPOSE: The Recovery Room Staff Nurse is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe in order to provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.Unit Specific: The Recovery Room Registered Professional Nurse provides specialized intensive nursing care to diverse patient populations of varying acuity, ranging from infant, pediatric, adolescent, and adult to geriatric during the pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia period in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and ambulatory surgery unit, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.Work is performed in accordance with State regulations for Registered Nurses, established hospital standards, nursing unit structure, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and Operating Room/Recovery Room Department.EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Employee Health ManagerThe Employee Health Manager is the first-line manager, designated as the leader for the department and assigned staff, and having 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all departmental activities. This position has accountability to coordinate the processes for providing employee health services relative to provision of examinations, assessments, immunizations and testing for employee onboarding and NLH staff under the direction of the supervising physician. Also responsible for maintenance of employee health records and required reporting of communicable disease and increased incidence of infection among staff to OSHA and local health departments per New York State guidelines.
