The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.Work is performed in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department/unit process and outcome standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and nursing department.EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) served on their assigned unit.PREFERRED: Bachelor of Science Nursing degree or Master’s degree.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION: Current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first six (6) months. Medication competency certification. Five (5) years of prior nursing experience.PREFERRED: Certification in area of practice. (Consistent with the type of patient population to be managed) Two (2) years in management experience.
