VanDeusen III as the hospital’s new Supervisor of Security and Emergency Management. VanDeusen is well known in the community for his 26 years as a Gloversville Police officer and more recently as the Gloversville Police Chief. “Littauer is thrilled to have a professional with Don’s law enforcement experience working directly on our campus,” said NLH Vice President of Community Relations, Cheryl McGrattan. “His integrity and vast knowledge in the field is an asset to Nathan Littauer.” VanDeusen has smoothly transitioned into his new role. “I have met a lot of good people which makes the management transition from a municipality to health care much easier,” said VanDeusen. The Birthing Center at announces the Littauer Leapster Posted on March 17, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – Paisley Raye Carpenter made her grand entrance into this world at 9:32 a.m. on Feb. 29, 2016. Waiting until a week after her due-date, she was born at Nathan Littauer Hospital’s Birthing Center on the 2016 Leap Year. She is the daughter of Dallas and Dan Carpenter of Johnstown, and joins a two-year-old brother Ryder. “I haven’t even thought about how we will spend her first birthday,” said Dallas Carpenter. “I know people with birthdays on Feb. 28 and March 1. We may just choose any special day, like St Patrick’s Day? We will do something big every four years for sure,” she added. Feb. 29 pops up every four years to keep up with the disparity in the Gregorian calendar and the earth’s rotation around the sun. Earth’s complete orbit around the sun takes exactly 365.2422 days. Every four years we need to add a day to our 365 day calendar year to keep us in sync with clocks, calendars and seasons. “I was told by people that I would probably have the baby on Leap Year. Edith Falacco celebrates her 100th birthday Posted on February 17, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – Edith Falacco, a resident of the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the residence surrounded by her family and those closest to her.Born Feb. 13, 1916, Edith grew up in Gloversville. She enjoyed a lifelong career working at Grandoe sewing gloves. She loves to cook and is a communicant at the Church of the Holy Spirit.A centennial party was given in her honor with cake for family, friends and residents. Barbara Hill, a 27 year Littauer employee, currently a medical receptionist in OB/GYN Primary Care Center was the recipient.“We all touch patients in one way or another here at Littauer,” said NLH President and CEO Laurence E. Kelly. “Barb is one of our employees who emulates our core values, and one whose actions we choose to celebrate.”Hill’s co-workers, friends and family joined her in the NHL cafe for the recent announcement. Hill was nominated by her peers, who welcome her constant smile, her true care and compassion, and her love of patients.“I love working here,” said Hill. “I’ll be here forever.” She added, “After 27 years, I have seen so many great co-workers awarded; I never expected to be one of them.”Nominations for the award are made by NLH employees, providers or patients, and then submitted to the Goodwill Committee. Hilda Cooper celebrates 100 surrounded by family Posted on February 16, 2016 by Dakota PikeGLOVERSVILLE – Hilda Cooper, a resident of the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home celebrated her 100th birthday Jan. 12 at the residence surrounded by her family.Born Jan. 12, 1916, Hilda grew up in Sprout Brook. She married Aiden Jonas Cooper on Nov. 22, 1944. Together they had three daughters, Susan, Diane and Bonnie Lou. She has four grandchildren and one great grandson.Hilda was a teacher with Canajoharie Central Schools. Interestingly, she started her career as a teacher in the Ames one-room schoolhouse.A party was given in her honor on her centennial with cake for family, friends and residents.Hilda Cooper, seated at center, celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 12 at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home surrounded by her family and friends.
