GLOVERSVILLE, NY – Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center welcomed its first and last Blessings of 2023 and 2024, respectively. Nathan Littauer is thrilled to introduce the last baby born in 2023, and its first adorable arrival of 2024!

Last Baby born at Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center in 2023:
Baby Boy Kohlson Lee Barr was born on December 31st, 2023 at 11:08 AM, weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces.

First Baby born at Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center in 2024:
Baby Girl Ellianna Rae-Ann Syzdek was born January 1st, 2024 at 10:07 PM, weighing 7 pounds and 5 ounces.

Both families were gifted baskets from Nathan Littauer Birthing Center staff, and from the Nathan Littauer Auxiliary and Volunteers.

Congratulations to the Barr and Syzdek families, and Nathan Littauer wishes them a lifetime of joy and unforgettable memories with their little ones.

Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center Celebrates with Friends of the Gloversville Public Library

GLOVERSVILLE, NY – In celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week 2023 in October, the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library presented the first baby born the week of October 22nd at The Nathan Littauer Birthing Center with a basket of books, clothing, and other gifts.

Luca Russo was born at Nathan Littauer’s Birthing Center at 2:39 a.m. on October 22, 2023, making him the gift recipient. He weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long. He is the son of Benjamin Russo and Kathryn Romano.

“We are very thankful,” said Russo. “It is an incredibly nice gesture of the Friends of the Library, and we can’t wait to read some of the books to him.”

Friends of the Gloversville Public Library President Jean LaPorta said the organization does this activity annually for the first baby born at Nathan Littauer during National Friends of Libraries Week. Together, the organization has been donating the gift baskets for more than ten years. “We love doing this,” LaPorta added. “We hope these books will encourage an admiration of reading in the child, and that when they are old enough, they will choose to visit our library to read many more books.”

This gift basket donated to the Nathan Littauer Birthing Center from the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library is made annually by member donations. Those who are interested in becoming Friends of the Public Library should visit their website or by calling the library at (518) 725-2819.

New Providers Join Gastroenterology Team at Littauer

GLOVERSVILLE, NY Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home is proud to announce the addition of two providers to its Gastroenterology Team. These gastroenterologists will strengthen the hospital’s commitment to providing needed, comprehensive, and specialized medical services to the community.

The expansion of Littauer’s Gastroenterology team includes the arrival of Zainul-Abideen Syed, MD, FACG, and Hadi Minhas, MD. With extensive backgrounds in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal disorders. Drs. Syed and Minhas will contribute to the hospital’s already robust Gastroenterology Team of Shri Verma, MD, Laura Caserta, FNP, Jill Hoffman, RPA, and Jeremy Lombardoni, CRNA, and David Cohen, MD. Their compassionate approach to patient care will complement the hospital’s reputation as a center of excellence for gastrointestinal health.

Davin Healthcare Donates Teddy Bears for Valentine’s Day

Receive a Teddy on Valentine’s Day

GLOVERSVILLE, NY Pediatric patients who present to Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home’s Emergency Department (Emergency Room) will be given Valentine’s Day teddy bears, thanks to Davin Healthcare. A nurse-founded and employee-owned company assisting in strategies of healthcare workforce shortages; Davin Healthcare donated ten teddy bears to Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home. “We are a staffing partner with Nathan Littauer, and this Valentine’s day, we wanted the pediatric patients to feel some love,” said Davin Healthcare Events and Engagement Coordinator Emily Cooper. “We wanted to do something nice for our younger patients who present in Emergency Rooms.”

Cooper arrived at Nathan Littauer Hospital’s Emergency Room (ER), and greeted Nathan Littauer staff with a donation of ten teddy bears, intended for Littauer nurses to gift them to pediatric patients. Nathan Littauer Emergency Department Manager Kerry Button, RN, BSN, said, “This is a wonderful gesture of Davin Healthcare and a great idea for our pediatric patients, which will surely put a smile on their faces.”

Nursing Supervisor of Third Floor MED/SURG, Donna Sanders, RN, said “We’re thankful to Davin Healthcare for the thoughtful donation. Unfortunately, we have pediatric patients who come in to our ER, and the teddy bears will certainly help them feel a little bit better about their visit with us.”

Nathan Littauer Hospital was one of many hospitals to receive teddy bears. “We donated 500 teddy bears across the U.S., and really just wanted to help our younger patients smile on Valentine’s Day.” Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home thanks Davin Healthcare for the kind donation and for thinking of its pediatric patients on Valentine’s Day!
